The members of Ilford Golf Club have recently witnessed the erection of the prefabricated timber frame that will form their new clubhouse, due to open later this year. Following three months of laborious ground works, in desperately wet weather, the structure was built over a period of three recent spring days.
It is part of a package of works that are planned for IGC between now and September including, a purpose built buggy and golf club storage unit adjacent to the new clubhouse, a state of the art swing room with professional tuition and, a fully refurbished car park.
The new clubhouse will be most energy efficient, fitted out and furnished to the highest standard and provide all the services expected at a traditional golf club but in a modern environment.
Although the members, past and present, will be sad to leave their clubhouse of over one hundred years, the future in their new home is very bright indeed. The club are confident that their new development will welcome new members and guests, golfing and non-golfing, from the locality and beyond.
